INFORMER S.A. PROVIDES THE H/W EQUIPMENT FOR THE NEW CENTRAL INFORMATION SYSTEM OF THE BANK OF ATTICA
INFORMER S.A. undertook the supply, installation and support of the hardware equipment of the new central information system of BANK OF ATTICA in Greece.
The equipment is based on the new series of IBM UNIX Servers. The central system is the IBM pSeries 690, DataCenter Server, which represents the latest development in the large Server Systems area. According to an official announcement of IBM in the company’s Internet site, the above Server won the title of the “Best Server Hardware” in the competition of “e-WEEK” magazine.
The IBM pSeries 690, DataCenter Server is the result of a five years development effort and provides high level performance, reliability and ability to process large volume of transactions.
The system will be the main Server of the installation and it will be linked to an IBM pSeries 660 system in cluster array, in order to achieve high availability and automatic take over, in case of an operating failure of the main server.
The above hardware will support the TEMENOS GLOBUS banking system, which recently INFORMER S.A. provided to the BANK OF ATTICA and it is in the phase of implementation.
In addition, another IBM pSeries 660 Server Cluster has been offered to the bank to support the u/Switcware application (for the bank’s ATMs operation), which is also provided by INFORMER S.A.
The whole hardware equipment is completed with an Enterprise Storage System (E.S.S.), with 1,2 TB total storage capacity, which will cover all the bank’s needs in storage space, while two external tape storage units IBM Ultrium Autoloader will be used for back-up purposes.
The total amount of the hardware investment is 1.060.000 EURO. It is the first installation of an IBM pSeries 690 system in Greece.
This agreement stabilizes the successful cooperation between INFORMER S.A. and the BANK OF ATTICA not only in the implementation of software systems but also in the installation of hardware equipment.
